Everybody is talking about bacon and it seems as if it is the perfect food that goes with almost anything. When you cook bacon, it smells fantastic but that doesn’t mean you want your house to smell like bacon all of the time.
If you live in a home that enjoys cooking bacon but doesn’t want the smell to stick around forever, there are a few things you can do. Use these suggestions to eliminate the bacon scent as quickly as possible.
1. Ventilate: Allow fresh air to circulate by opening windows and doors. Turn on kitchen fans and vents to carry the smell from inside to the outside.
2. Boil Vinegar: As a natural deodorizer, vinegar can go a long way to help remove strong odors from the home. Fill a large pot with water and add a cup of vinegar. Bring it to a boil and then allow it to simmer on the stove. Make sure you set a timer so the pot doesn’t boil dry!
3. Baking Soda: There is a reason why we have a box of baking soda in the refrigerator. It helps to eliminate smells quickly. Sprinkle some baking soda on the surfaces in the kitchen and then vacuum the area. You can also use a bowl of baking soda on the kitchen counter.
4. Spices: Along with simmering some vinegar on the stove, you can also throw some cinnamon sticks, citrus peels, and cloves in a pot of water and allow them to simmer. It doesn’t necessarily get rid of the smell but it will cover it.
5. Air Purifiers: Maybe you can use a HEPA filter in the area to eliminate some of the airborne odors. It will take some time but it does work.
6. Clean Fabrics: Since the smell of bacon can stick to fabrics, you should wash them regularly. This would include curtains, kitchen towels, and tablecloths.
7. Essential Oils: Try sprinkling a few drops of essential oil in the area or burning some candles. They may help to eliminate or neutralize the odor.
