Before being transferred to his incubator, medical professionals at The Royal Womenโs Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, quickly placed him in a plastic bag to assist control his body temperature and avoid hypothermia.
Lilly Munro, Lennoxโs mother, referred to the newbornโs makeshift residence as a โoven bagโ and stated that it was standard procedure for preterm infants who lacked the necessary development to stay warm.
โIt is quite confronting imageโฆ He was put in a plastic oven-type bag and whisked away,โ Ms Munro told Daily Mail Australia.
โItโs what they do in order to preserve [a premature babyโs] temperature because they canโt regulate their temperature.โMs. Munro claimed that around 24 weeks pregnant, she had a โstrange feeling that something wasnโt quite right.โ
Her doctor made a startling discovery during an ultrasound after she was brought to the hospital.
โMy doctor looked at the screen and went, Oh My Godโฆ your cervix is open and the babyโs arm is up like Superman through the cervix. Youโre not going anywhere,โ Ms. Munro told Daily Mail Australia.
