Selena Gomez has received a scathing response from Donald Trumpโs border czar, Tom Homan, after her now-deleted Instagram video.
The singer and actor recently reacted to President Donald Trumpโs new executive orders surrounding immigration.
Following Trumpโs order for a nationwide crackdown, almost 1,000 people were arrested on Sunday (26 January), according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Allegedly, those who were arrested had entered the country illegally and had also committed crimes within the US before ICE apprehended them.
Gomez, who is Mexican American, was beside herself when the news broke and discussed the new presidentโs plan to deport millions of immigrants.
The 32-year-old star broke down in tears as she said in an Instagram video: โI just want to say that Iโm so sorry. All my people are getting attacked.
โThe children. I donโt understand. Iโm so sorry I wish I could do something, but I canโt.
โI donโt know what to do. Iโll try everything, I promise.โ
However, border czar, Homan, who is leading the immigration task force, has sinceย toldย Fox News: โIf they donโt like it, then go to Congress and change the law. Weโre going to do this operation without apology.โ
What is a czar?
Now, if youโre wondering what a czar is, itโs shorthand for a high-level executive branch official, who is in charge of a specific policy focus and is not a Senate-confirmed position.
So, Trump can appoint anyone as a czar without having to go through the Senate for approval, making it faster for the person to take up their job and get to work.
Trump border czarโs response
Former police officer Homan went on to deny that people are being targeted in raids and that he doesnโt โthink weโve arrested any familiesโ.
He added: โWeโve arrested public safety threats and national security threats, bottom-line.
โPresident Trump won the election on this one issue โ securing our border and saving lives.
โWhat happened on our southern border in the last four years is the biggest national security threat our county has seen, at least in my lifetime.โ

Homan continued onย Hannity: โI met with hundreds of Angel moms and dads who are separated from their children because they buried them because they were killed by illegal aliens.
โWe got a half a million children who were sex trafficked into this country, separated from their families, put in the hands of criminal cartels to be smuggled into the country. This administration canโt find over 300,000. Whereโs the tears for them?โ
The border czar then went on to claim that because of the nationwide crackdown, the โoverdose of fentanyl is going to dropโ and the โillegal alien crime is going to dropโ as a result of the deportations.
He also claimed: โSex trafficking of women and children is going to drop. Itโs worth the investment. Itโs a one-time cost to secure this nation and make America safe again.โ
