In yet another display of left-wing outrage, Whoopi Goldberg, co-host of *The View*, has gone on the warpath against Karoline Leavitt, President Donald Trump’s new White House press secretary. Leavitt, who’s quickly making a name for herself with her directness and no-nonsense approach to press briefings, has already become a target of the left, with Goldberg leading the charge in an absurd tirade about “wokeness.”
The drama unfolded after Leavitt made a bold statement regarding the Trump administration’s partial reversal of a federal funding freeze. Leavitt, in typical fashion, called out the government’s funding of “transgenderism and wokeness across our federal bureaucracy and agencies.” That remark, which should have been a reasonable criticism of federal overreach, set Goldberg off in a fiery outburst during the January 29 broadcast of *The View*.
Shouting her disapproval, Goldberg claimed that it was “wokeness” that secured Leavitt’s position in the White House. In what can only be described as a baseless attack, Goldberg asserted, “Let me explain something to you, because without that wokeness, you might not have that job!” Of course, this outburst overlooks the fact that Leavitt’s ascent has more to do with her skills and dedication than any progressive agenda.
Goldberg’s rant took a bizarre turn as she tried to link “wokeness” with the opportunity for women to serve in influential roles, such as White House press secretary. According to Goldberg, it was “wokeness” that created the conditions for women to hold positions of power in government and society, as she declared, “Because women were not invited to that table.” She then went on to imply that Leavitt should express gratitude for the “wokeness” that supposedly paved the way for her job.
But this line of reasoning is as misguided as it is misguided. Women have been fighting for equality long before the advent of “wokeness,” with significant strides made in the 20th century to ensure equal access to education, the workplace, and leadership roles. Goldberg’s attempt to credit “wokeness” for decades of progress is a revisionist and oversimplified view of history.
In her rambling monologue, Goldberg continued to argue that “wokeness” was the solution to the challenges faced by minorities and women in securing spots in colleges and other institutions. What she conveniently ignored was that the civil rights movement and affirmative action policies were already in place decades before the rise of “wokeness” in today’s cultural discourse.
Goldberg’s rage reached a fever pitch as she insisted that Leavitt should stop using the term “wokeness” in a derogatory fashion. According to the *View* host, Leavitt simply doesn’t understand the “good” that wokeness has done for her. “Please, please stop using that phrase and talkin’ about it, because you don’t understand what you’re saying,” Goldberg snapped, as though she’s the sole arbiter of what Leavitt should or shouldn’t say.
In a final twist of irony, Goldberg accused Leavitt of undermining her own accomplishments by criticizing “wokeness,” despite the fact that Leavitt’s statement was clearly aimed at the dangers of the radical left’s cultural agenda, not a denial of women’s rights or accomplishments. Goldberg’s complete failure to grasp Leavitt’s position is evident in her declaration: “You’re saying, about yourself, that, you know, ‘Hey, that’s a terrible thing to be.’” In reality, Leavitt’s critique is a call for a return to common sense, not a denial of progress.
Goldberg’s outbursts are just another example of the left’s tendency to lash out at anyone who dares challenge their cherished ideological narratives. Karoline Leavitt, for her part, remains resolute in her mission to stand up against the radical left’s overreach—something Goldberg clearly cannot tolerate.
As the Trump administration continues to push back against the woke agenda, expect more leftist meltdowns like this one. The left’s refusal to accept any challenge to their worldview is only furthering the divide in this country—and with Leavitt at the helm, it’s clear that common sense and traditional values are making a comeback in the White House press room.
