This single guy raised 30 children and adopted five more; here’s how they all live now

What an amazing tale! They were placed in four separate homes, across four different cities… It’s so important for them to grow up together as siblings, and that’s what I fought for.

Foster parents play a significant role in transforming a child’s life. They possess immense compassion and care, and are ever-willing to embrace children in need of love and kindness, offering them a nurturing home.

Lamont Thomas, a resident of Buffalo, New York, has spent the past two decades caring for foster children. When asked about his journey on Good Morning America, he shared, “Initially, I was assisting friends who had lost their child to the system. After becoming certified as a foster parent, I continued on this path without looking back.”

Believe it or not, Lamont has fostered more than 30 kids, five of which he officially adopted. So with his two biological children, Anthony and LaMonica, he became a father of seven.

Lamont’s first adopted child is Michael Thomas, who is currently 27 years old and fondly remembers the day he officially became a part of their family.

Michael shared, “He was my third foster home, but it turned out to be my permanent home. He was familiar with my biological parents.”

“Lamont never refused [a child],” Michael mentioned. “They either grew up or returned to their own families.”

With seven kids to take care of on his own, Lamont knew he was done adopting, but then he came across a very special case that made him change his mind.

Lamont felt heartbroken as the five siblings, Zendaya, Jamel, Nakia, Major, and Michaela, were placed in foster homes after their parent’s fate. It was devastating for him to see them separated and living in four different cities with four different families.

Unfortunately, this meant one thing: they wouldn’t have the chance to grow up together.

That’s when Lamont stepped in. He just couldn’t let the siblings spend their childhood without being by each other’s side so he re-certified as a foster parent and adopted all of them.

Lamont felt confident in his decision to focus on the newest member of the family, especially since his older children had already started families of their own and moved out.

He described his adoption day with Judge Lisa Rodwin as a constant battle to hold back the tears. “Every single day, the thought of it brings tears to my eyes. The journey we went through to make this a reality, it was truly something remarkable.”

This amazing single father had become a proud parent to a dozen children. He understood that it wouldn’t be a walk in the park, but he was determined to embrace the challenge.

Lamont expressed, “These kids bring a fresh energy into my life. They are so lovable and affectionate. It was my mission to ensure they are raised together as siblings.”

Everyone who knows Lamont says he’s the most special person they’ve ever met. He made huge impact in the life of every kid that has ever been part of his family, and now he’s doing the same thing for their kids as well.

LaMonica expressed her admiration, saying, “It’s truly incredible how he’s handling all of them. He goes above and beyond for everyone. He’s truly an exceptional individual.”

Michael mentioned that Lamont believed that fostering was his purpose, and he will always be there for anyone who needs the love of a parent.

Michael expressed his astonishment, saying, “We’re all adults now. It’s unbelievable that he’s starting from scratch again.” He went on to share, “Lamont has truly been my savior. I owe so much of who I am today to him entering my life.”

Lamont never anticipated receiving anything in exchange; his only wish is that his story will motivate others to join the fostering system as the demand for foster families continues to grow daily.

He shared, “I aspired to create an impact by being unique, and I genuinely adore my work.”
