In a heart-wrenching twist during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade, tragedy struck, leaving the community reeling. The senseless murder of local DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a beloved mother of two and a football enthusiast, turned the event into a day of mourning.

Sky News has reported that Lopez-Galvan sustained a gunshot wound to her abdomen during the end of the Chiefs’ parade celebrations. Despite undergoing surgery, she tragically succumbed to her injuries, leaving behind a void in her tight-knit community.

Known for her vibrant presence and passion for music, Lopez-Galvan served as a DJ on KKFI 90.1 FM, hosting the popular show ‘A Taste of Tejano’. Her sudden death prompted an outpouring of grief from the station, which mourned her loss and emphasized the profound impact she had on the community.

In a statement posted to Facebook, KKFI 90.1 FM wrote: “It is with sincere sadness and an extremely heavy and broken heart that we let our community know that KKFI DJ Lisa Lopez, host of ‘Taste of Tejano’ lost her life today in the shooting at the KC Chiefs’ rally.”

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas conveyed his deep sorrow over the tragedy, emphasizing the indiscriminate nature of the violence that marred what should have been a joyous occasion for the town.

As authorities continue their investigation into the shooting,CNN detailed that two people have been detained for questioning.

According to the outlet, police believe the shooting may have erupted following a dispute between several people.

Four hospitals reportedly received 30 patients – 19 with gunshot wounds – from the shooting. Of that number, Children’s Mercy hospital received 11 children between ages six and 15, and nine of them had been shot.
