Following the presidential elections in November, that Donald Trump won, President Bidenโs wife, Jill Biden, extended an invitation toย Melania Trumpย for a customary White House tradition, but allegedly, the invite was declined.
Speaking to theย Washington Post,ย Jill Biden revealed that Melania โbrokeโ the long-standing tradition of the incoming and outgoing First Ladiesย having tea during the presidential transition.
Jill then followed up with Melania Trump by sending a note through her husband when the two met at the reopening of the Notre Dame in December last year.

โI congratulated her and I offered help,โ Biden said in an interview with theย Washington Post. โWhat would be the point of nastiness?โ
The two First Ladies eventually met at former President Jimmy Carterโs state funeral on 9 January, with Jill confirming Melania thanked herย โduring pleasantries.โ
In December 2024, Melania Trump appeared on โFox & Friendsโ and said that this time, the transition to the White House would be smoother.
โThe first time was challenging, we didnโt have much of the information,โ she said. โThe information was withheld from us by the previous administration,โ Melania continued. โBut this time I have everythingโฆ itโs a very different transition this time, second time around.โ

Host Brian Kilmeade asked Melania if sheโd considered posing for magazine covers once she becomes First Lady again. โYouโre in the White House, and youโre not on the cover of any of these magazines. Do you think that will change? And would you say yes to them โ the Vogues, the Peoples, whatever?โ
Melania, who used to be a model, answered, โLook, Iโve been there on the covers โ on the cover of Vogue, on the covers of many magazines before. We have so many other important things to do than to be on the cover of any magazine.โ

She added, โI think that life would not change for anybody if Iโm on the cover.โ
Some viewed this as a subtle remark aimed at Jill Biden, who was featured on the cover of Vogue Magazine in August.
President Biden and Jill Biden will attend Donald Trumps inauguration on January 20.
