Comer Calls on Pam Bondi to Prosecute James Biden for Alleged Crime

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer recently urged President-elect Donald Trumpโ€™s nominee for attorney general, Pam Bondi, to investigate and prosecute James Biden for allegedly making false statements.ย  James, the brother of President Joe Biden, has been involved in the Biden familyโ€™s business activities, according to probes from Comer.

The House Oversight chair reportedly determined that James had received approximately $200,000 from Americore, a company that has been accused of defrauding Medicare, which was placed in Joe Bidenโ€™s bank account by James, claiming it was repayment for money Joe had lent him.ย  Comerโ€™s subsequent request for documentation on the supposed loan were not fulfilled.

Furthermore, Comer subpoenaed Jamesโ€™s Lion-Hall Group and JBBSR, Inc., seeking to uncover documents related to Joe Bidenโ€™s corporation, CelticCapri Corp, that reportedly received $10 million in 2017 without revenue line items explaining the transaction.ย  Additionally, James has also been involved with businesses linked to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Reportedly, Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) determined that an associate of the Biden family, Rob Walker, received a $3 million wire transfer from CEFC China Energy Co., a company with ties to the Chinese government.ย  It is reported that multiple members of the Biden family collectively received $1.3 million from the wire.

As a result of Comerโ€™s findings, House Republicans launched an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, claiming that he had knowledge of and contributed to his familyโ€™s โ€œinfluence peddling schemes.โ€ย  Now, Comers has reached out to Bondi, requesting her to prosecute James for supposedly lying to Congress about these activities.

The letterย read, โ€œOn February 21, 2024, the Oversight Committee and the Judiciary Committee conducted a transcribed interview of James Biden, who was accompanied by counsel. On February 28, 2024, the Oversight Committee and the Judiciary Committee conducted a deposition of Hunter Biden, who testified under oath and was accompanied by counsel.10 On June 5, 2024, the Committees made criminal referrals of Hunter Biden and James Biden to the Department of Justice pursuant to 18 U.S.C. ยง 1001 (false statements), and, additionally, for Hunter Biden under 18 U.S.C. ยง 1621 (perjury). To date, Attorney General Garland has ignored the Committeesโ€™ referral. As the referral demonstrates, Hunter Biden and James Biden made provably false statements to the Oversight Committee and the Judiciary Committee about key aspects of the impeachment inquiry, in what appears to be a conscious effort to hinder the investigationโ€™s focus on President Biden. Although President Bidenโ€™s pardon encompasses all crimes committed by Hunter Biden during the timeframe investigated by the Committee (including the crime of perjury before Congress), Attorney General Garland โ€” or his successor โ€” may, and should, determine prosecution of James Biden for violation of 18 U.S.C. ยง 1001 is appropriate.โ€

It continued, โ€œJames Biden made materially false statements to the Oversight and Judiciary Committees. The nature of both his and Hunter Bidenโ€™s false statements is not lost on the Committees: every instance implicates Joe Bidenโ€™s knowledge of and role in his familyโ€™s influence peddling. James Bidenโ€™s denial of Joe Bidenโ€™s meeting with James Biden, Hunter Biden, and Hunter Bidenโ€™s business associate for a Chinese transaction, Tony Bobulinski โ€” despite evidence being placed in front of him and being given multiple opportunities to amend his response โ€” appears to be a clumsy attempt to protect Joe Biden from the reality that Joe Biden has indeed met with his familyโ€™s business associates.โ€
