Have we ever stopped to think about the idea that our actions have consequences? Sometimes we do things without realizing how they affect others. Fortunately, life has a way of showing us that we should be more thoughtful.
Following his father’s death, a man felt unable to continue caring for his mother, so he chose to move her to a nursing home. She was unhappy there, and he only visited sporadically.
His mother’s health took a turn for the worse one day. She seemed extremely unwell, as if she was nearing the end of her life.
The son rushed to the nursing home and immediately went to his mother’s room. He inquired if there was anything he could assist her with.
The mother gazed directly at him and mentioned she had a couple of things she wanted. Upon hearing this, he expressed his readiness to fulfill her last desire.
The mother then clarified that she desired the fans to be replaced as they were not functioning correctly, causing her to feel suffocated at times. “If you could also replace the refrigerator… There were occasions when I went to bed hungry because the food had gone bad,” she mentioned.
The son was taken aback. He believed his mother had no idea she was dying. So, he questioned why she hadn’t informed him earlier. Sadly, it was now too late.
The mother gazed into his eyes and told him, “I may not be around forever, but remember this: when your own children push you away, they will eventually bring you back here. You will then receive what you have given. Always keep that in mind.”
The son’s heart shattered into a million pieces when he realized his mistake of leaving his mother at the nursing home against her wishes.
